A first-round NBA draft pick for the Utah Jazz, he was a rookie on a team with basketball legends Karl Malone and John Stockton. He had money, women, cars, and a luxurious bachelor pad overlooking Salt Lake City. But within a year, ravaged by drugs and unable to cope with life as an NBA star, he was homeless, broke and addicted to crack cocaine. Luther will share his inspiring and uplifting journey to recovery, and his book called "A Perfect Fit".

He ultimately became the first African American Supreme Court Justice. Earlier in his distinguished career, he successfully argued the historic Brown vs. the Board of Education case before the Supreme Court which overturned Plessy vs. Ferguson and ended legal segregation in American schools.

The trustees and members of the board of directors of The Frederick Douglass Memorial and Historical Association, Inc.,  have been dedicated to and engaged in preserving to posterity the life and character of Frederick Douglass. The organization strives to: collect and preserve historical records of the antislavery movement in the United States; insure that the Frederick Douglass home, Cedar Hill, is maintained as a national historic site and improved through cooperative efforts with the National Park Service; and initiate and support programs that perpetuate the legacy of Frederick Douglass.
